Courtney Ford isn’t afraid of blood.
Ford spilled plenty of the red stuff this past season on Dexter as the Trinity Killer’s murderous daughter, now she’s joining the bloodsuckers on The Vampire Diaries as a vampire scholar.
Here’s what Courtney dished to us at Showtime’s Emmy nominee reception about her hot new TVD character, including the true nature of her “research” into the vampires of Fell’s Church. (Hint: Her character might have more on her mind than just books!) “I play Vanessa Monroe, a Duke University grad student who’s helping Alaric (Matt Davis), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) with Isobel’s research. It’s a really nice arc.” Isobel, Elena’s birth mom and Alaric’s wife, was so obsessed with vampires that she persuaded Damon to turn her into one. Is Vanessa going to ask the same favor of the sexy Salvatore brother?
Not a chance, Courtney dished. “Vanessa has a conflict, because she studies all this wonderful mythology and folklore, but half of her is a complete skeptic. Half of her is a believer, and half of her is a skeptic, and she goes back and forth. It’s a big conflict for her.” When we asked Courtney whether Vanessa would see any action in the romance department, her reaction revealed that she’s obviously hooking up with someone…but Courtney’s lips are sealed: “I want to tell you so much, but I can’t,” she said, laughing. “They’ll kill me if I reveal too much!”
CW released new Vampire Diaries Nina Dobrev audition footage & more. According to E! online, the CW released some new footage (below) of Vampire Diarie’s star Nina Dobrev on their season 1 Vampire Diaries DVD. It shows exclusive footage of Nina auditioning to play the role of Elena Gilbert, and as we all know, she got the role, and plays it very well.
In the clip (below), Producer Julie Plec revealed that they couldn’t cast the guys until they were sure that they had the right girl for Elena and vice-versa. Nina revealed that so many people were outraged that she didn’t dye her hair blonde for the role. One of the producers said that they did set out to look for a blonde-haired actress, but Nina was so good, and no other actress could beat her. They saw how special Nina was,and there was no looking back.
I have updated the episode guide with the official synopsis of the first two episodes of season two, you can check it out here.
While you were reading The Passage and the Twilight books and watching True Blood, Let The Right One In, and Vampire Diaries, Hollywood was counting its cash. Enough cash to fuel the economy of a small country.
According to this study, just as the new satire “Vampires Suck” raked in another $20 million dollars at the box office, The Hollywood Reporter has tallied the profits of all the recent books, TV shows, films, Barbie dolls, fashion, and fake fangs and put the number at $7 billion, since the first Twilight film hit screens in 2008.
