 4x10 After School Special Appearing unexpectedly at Mystic Falls High, Rebekah wastes no time trying to force Stefan, Elena and Caroline to answer her questions about the search for a cure, leading to a bombshell piece of information from Elena. When Bonnie's father, Rudy Owens, accepts the role of Interim Mayor, he makes it a priority to protect his daughter, who isn't at all comfortable with the role he suddenly wants to play in her life. Professor Shane continues to encourage Bonnie to believe in her powers, but he soon finds himself in danger when he reveals too much to the wrong person. Later, Caroline does her best to comfort Tyler after a violent confrontation. Meanwhile, at the lake house, Damon and Matt train Jeremy, trying to raise his game as a hunter, but Klaus is impatient with their progress and intervenes to speed up the process.

The Awakening
Title: The Awakening The arrival of Stefan Salvatore, a new and mysterious guy, sparks interest amongst the students in the small town of Fell’s Church in Virginia. Elena, a beautiful and popular student who has never before had trouble with getting the guy she wants is frustrated when Stefan seems to be ignoring and brushing her off. A secret war erupts between Elena and her friend Caroline Forbes for Stefan’s affections, however as the fight goes on Elena suspects that the handsome Stefan, whom she soon falls in love with, has a dark secret. As the girls try to unlock Stefan’s secrets, through flashbacks we learn that Stefan’s past is darker than anyone could have imagined. Stefan is a vampire, over 400 years old who lived in Renaissance Florence where he was deeply in love with a German girl named Katherine. When Katherine had been ill and close to death a vampire named Klaus had changed her. Stefan believed Katherine loved him back and so consented to exchange blood with her in the hope that they would marry and be together. However Stefan’s older brother Damon was also in love with Katerine. Meanwhile in Fell’s Church, Elena is spooked by a large crow that seems to be following her. Elena and her two best friends – Meredith Sulez and Bonnie McCullough – flee from the Fell’s Church cemetery, afraid that some sort of power is after them. At the homecoming dance Elena is crowned Homecoming Queen and attempts to get Stefan to dance with her. When things do not go Elena’s way she leaves the dance with Tyler Smallwood, Vickie Bennet and Dick Carter. The group go to the Fell’s Church Cemetery where Tyler attempts to sexually assault Elena. Stefan appears just in time and rescues her, after beating Tyler up he takes Elena back to his boarding house. There the two kiss and Elena realizes that she is in love with Stefan. Whilst Elena is with Stefan; Bonnie, Meredith and Matt find Vickie wandering around the streets looking as if she too had been attacked. Over the next few days Elena, Meredith and Bonnie plan the school’s Haunted House for Halloween. Whilst making preparations Elena is left alone in the school gym where the lights go off. She is mysteriously joined by an unknown guy, who nearly succeeds in making Elena kiss him. The same guy shows up at later at Bonnie’s house and again try’s to kiss Elena. During the Haunted House for Halloween a school teacher, Mr Tanner is murdered and Tyler Smallwood points the finger at Stefan. Arguing that all the mysterious things only started to happen after Stefan had showed up. In panic Stefan flees back to the boarding house to prepare to leave. Elena follows him and finds him on the roof top feeding on birds. Elena is horrified and falls off the roof top but Stefan manages to catch her in time. Elena demands an explanation. Stefan explains about his past and about how he became a vampire – after exchanging blood with Katerine, Stefan learnt that Katherine planned to keep, not just him, but his brother also. After both brothers demanded that Katherine choose one of them Katherine went out into the sunlight – unprotected by her Lapis lazuli ring – and killed herself. Furious at each other Stefan and Damon dulled to the death, but they had each exchanged blood with Katherine and so did not die. Elena, now convinced that Damon is her unknown stranger, suspects that he also is behind all the violence in Fell’s Church. Elena persuades Stefan to take some of her blood. Stefan goes to the woods and calls Damon. Damon appears and admits to killing Mr Tanner, he also demands that Stefan give up Elena to him. The bothers fight once again, Damon is stronger and takes blood by force from Stefan and leaves him in the woods. Stefan attempts to get back home but is attacked again from behind. Elena worries about Stefan’s safety and believes that Damon is responsible for his disappearance. She goes to the wood and calls for Damon – the book ends here. |
